Statement By California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring On Democrat Attempts To Remove The Two-Thirds Budget Vote Requirement

Ron Nehring - California Republican Party Chairman
California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring today issued the following statement concerning California Democrats’ introduction of a constitutional amendment eliminating the two-thirds requirement to pass a budget and raise taxes:
“Democrats in the California legislature have launched a new, direct attack on all California taxpayers.
“Their latest scheme is to eliminate the key checks and balances that have protected Californians for years, and install a hyperpartisan plan to make it easier to raise taxes and make California’s huge bureaucracy even bigger.
“Assembly Speaker Karen Bass talks about making California ‘consistent with the rest of the country’ only when it comes to making it easier to raise taxes. She’s perfectly fine with having California stand out with our sky high sales and income taxes that kill jobs and put our state at a competitive disadvantage.
“Democrats in Sacramento talk about consensus only when it suits their agenda for making government bigger and more expensive. When consensus no longer suits their interest – the 2/3rds vote to adopt a budget requires consensus – they cast it aside in favor of intensely partisan proposals that put the interests of government and bureaucrats ahead of taxpayers.
“Liberals in Sacramento are so intensely committed to their ideological agenda of getting even more money from California taxpayers that they are even willing to manipulate the fundamentals of the state Constitution to get their way.
“Republicans will continue to stand up to protect the checks and balances that protect California taxpayers every day.”

From the mess we’re in I’d like a 100% Budget Vote Requirement, and then take um out and shoot um!
