San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom Criticizes Villaraigosa Education Plan
Gavin Newsom, Mayor of the City of San Francisco, released his 2008 State of the City Address via YouTube this week. Many expect Newsom to run for Governor of California in 2010, pitting him against his Los Angeles colleage Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for the Democratic nomination. During a discussion of the San Francisco education system, Newsom implies that Villaraigosa’s plan for the LAUSD is “a solution look for a problem”.
The following video clip is take from the Webisode on Public Education where Gavin Newsom discusses “A Partnership for Achievement”. The plan is a working agreement between the City, County and the public school system. Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa attempted a government takeover of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Villaraigosa has not filed to run for Governor, but many expect him to with no serious challenger for Mayor of Los Angeles and the position of Labor Secretary for Obama not yet locked up.
