Senate Republican Leader Dave Cogdill, of Modesto, today issued the following statement regarding the Pooled Money Investment Board vote to halt infrastructure projects across California:
“Republicans agree that we need to get more Californians back to work by rebuilding our infrastructure, that’s precisely why earlier this week we put forth a plan to eliminate a larger portion of the deficit than any other proposal on the table, without tax increases. The Republican Budget Solution would solve the cash crunch facing the state so these vital road, school and levee repair projects can proceed. At the same time, our plan would fix the long-term structural problems with our broken budget system and eliminate the red and ‘green’ tape to fast-track even more infrastructure projects.
“Today’s decision by the Pooled Money Investment Board doesn’t make the case for raising taxes. Instead, it shows exactly why rebuilding our economy is the responsible way to solve our budget problems.”
Senator Cogdill proudly represents part or all of the counties of Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tuolumne.
