Florida Reporter Asks Biden About ACORN And Spreading The Wealth

The Issue: A reporter in Orlando, Florida asks Senator Joe Biden about various recent statements made by either himself or Barack Obama.  The interview covers ACORN, “Spreading the Wealth” and comparing Obama’s ideas to Marxism.  The video is below.  The Obama Campaign has since canceled an interview with Joe Biden’s wife and will not do any further interviews until at least after the election.

The Obama Campaign released the following statement about the interview:

“There’s nothing wrong with tough questions, but reporters have the very important job of sharing the truth with the public — not misleading the American people with false information. Senator Biden handled the interview well; however, the anchor was completely unprofessional. Senator Biden’s wife is not running for elected office, and there are many other stations in the Orlando television market that would gladly conduct a respectful and factual interview with her.”

“This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election.”

Analysis: It looked like Joe Biden was on trial.

The reporter does touch on some issues that have arisen among independent voters about Barack Obama’s social policies, but her questions are so leading that one cannot blame Biden for being offended.  If the reporter would have asked questions that were balanced and fair that breached the subjects, she might have covered the same material without the standoff that occurred.

Those were some SNL-tinged questions and Senator Biden handled them remarkably well. A Marxist indeed. Unbelievable.

I hope you’ll take this into consideration: I am glad to see this interview, someone needs to finally ask some hard questions about the policies of Obama, Biden. If you know anything about economics you know that Obama’s is very close to Marxism. Communism is about taking money and labor and purposefully regulating how people much and when people will get paid. Look at the Beijing during the Olympics. Obama’s plan is not there yet but his plan is going that direction. When you shoot for the upper class, you hit the middle class and the poor benefit from the middle class. The 250,000, well actually it starts less than that but can get to 250,000, alone can stop a business from becoming a major success at hiring more people and serving more customers and offering lower prices. I lived in France for a while, it’s not as cool as it sounds. Socialism is Obama’s next step. He said it himself that he wished that besides the changes that came about during the civil rights movement, he wished that redistribution of wealth would have happened. He doesn’t just want justice he wants compensation. And for who? I would like to see America be a nation were everyones rights are the same. I beleive the race card is used both ways and it should not even be an issue it is rediculious. There should be no black and no white, just America. Race is a moral issue. Money is a personal endevour. I don’t want my neighbors money. I don’t mean to offend but the America I’ve read about doesn’t do well when more monetary control is placed on the people. It does better when more people are involved in producing the wealth. It’s not power over, it’s power through the people.

Did you make this up? Cite your source please.

Continuing, if you equate “redistributing the wealth” with Marxism, you’ve surely considered this very basic fact: Taxes redistribute wealth. Neither of the candidates in the major parties are for abolishing taxes. Note that lowering taxes is not abolishing taxes. Thus, if we follow your reasoning, Senators McCain and Obama can both be considered “Marxists” when actually (if you know anything about economics) neither of them are.

Further, just so you know, Andrew, your interchanging of the words Marxism, Communism and Socialism betrays your misunderstanding of their meaning. The three do not mean the same thing and so should not be used in place of one another.

If you would like to debate the merits of Senator Obama’s tax plan, you are free to do so. I just wanted to give you some food for thought, perhaps to sharpen your arguments in the future.

From what I’ve been reading there’s a huge misunderstanding (sometimes purposely misunderstanding) of political ideologies such as Marxism, communism, socialism. A certain portion of the population are just using those terms as name-calling without knowing what the terms mean.

There’s a lot of socialists ideas that are implemented by US. As Oleg stated, our progressive tax system (where the more you make, then more you pay) is redistributing the wealth. Unless your supporting the Flat Tax initiative, then you are saying that the rest of America are also socialists.
