You ignorant bigots for 8, listen: I’m NOT a Hollywood celebrity, I’m NOT rich, I’m NOT gay, I’ve been married 26 years and am the father of two — and I gave everything I could to STOP Proposition 8.

I don’t want my children to have to live in a country where it’s legal to discriminate against gays and lesbians. LOVE MAKES A FAMILY.

We’re not going away. Those of us who believe in equal rights for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transsexuals will fight you in the courts and in the polling booth, in the media and in the marketplace. I know I’m posting at the last minute but I only recently came across this site. Not all gay men are godless heathens, my partner and I are lifelong Catholics. We recognise that there is a difference between secular and sacred marriages– this prop only concerns civil (secular) marriage. We were taught to render unto Ceasar regarding civil matters. OUR constitution(federal) has interpreted the first amendment to say that freedom of religion also means freedom from religion. My partner of 18 years died shortly before we would have been allowed to have a civil (and religious in the denominations that permit it) marriage.
Historically, the Christian Church did not permit marriages to take place in the Church until the 5th century so to maintain that God established the ordinance and custom of marriage is specious at best. Christ performed no weddings but did teach about divorce. In your concern about the sanctity of marriage perhaps you would be better served following the Master’s teaching about removing the beam from your eye before attempting to remove the mote from mine.

Spencer– Since when are 5 year olds taught ANYTHING about marriage in school? And I’m sorry to have to tell you, but there IS nothing wrong with or unnatural about being gay.

As for your God crap, America isn’t a theocracy and therefore, I reject your argument. You tell me one valid LEGAL (NOT religious reason) that gays shouldn’t marry.

Proposition 8 is more than same sex marriage its about protecting our sons and daughters from growing up in a world that teaches that being gay or lesbian is just as normal as being straight. I don’t want my sons and daughters being taught as young as five years old in school that it is okay to marry someone of their same sex. It is about the principle of religion. And protecting what God has set up as the correct way to replenish the earth. It is marriage between a Man and a Woman. God set Adam and Eve on earth to have their posterity fill the whole earth. It goes contrary to the laws set up by God himself. I have nothing against gay or lesbian individuals. I believe they can live their life how they please. I am against the teachings that go against the teachings of God. And we must fight to protect God’s holy ordinance of Marriage between one man and one woman.

I’m going to have to agree with California STar. The celebrities can give away a small portion of their money on a cause they mildly care about. The true test of this measure is the hard work coming from the residents of California that are really, truly fighting for what they believe in.

I think it says something huge that the money raise for yes on 8 is coming from all over not just California. That just shows that we all recognize the long lasting consequences if this doesn’t pass. We all are trying to help since we can’t put up signs in our yard. In order to do my part I have to donate money, and blog as much as I can about this. I hope their efforts win in the end! Yes on Prop. 8!

As a California Resident I can tell you that the only Yard Signs placed in front of Residences and the only Bumber Stickers on Cars that I have seen for the past two weeks are all Yes on 8.

The only group that I’ve seen with people going door-to-door to talk to their neighbors are Yes on 8 Groups.

The only people that I’ve seen at street corners with big signs are Yes on 8 Groups.

Are these the only Californias that really care about Marriage Rights in California? Apparently so.

Most of those No on 8 Groups are getting their funding from rich Hollywood Celebrities that are usually lacking on child-raising skills.

Isn’t it interesting how much of the “Yes on 8″ money is coming from organization OUTSIDE the state? God protect us from these right-wing bigots, who want to require that EVERYONE abide by their own warped and fundmentalist sense of morality. Stay home in those mid-west hell holes you call states, and leave the rest of us ALONE!
