California Democratic and Republican Party’s Positions On The Propositions

Below are the 12 propositions on the California ballot this November.  Each proposition has a description (taken from the Legislative Analyst’s Office) and the position of the Republican and Democratic Parties on the proposition (taken from The California Republican Party Website and The California Democratic Party Website).

Observations: The parties generally disagree (not surprising), but they have three positions in common.

  1. Both Parties chose not to support either of the two renewable energy propositions (Prop 7 and Prop 10).
  2. Neither party supports the redistricting proposition (Prop 11).
  3. Both Parties took a support stance for the Veteran’s Bond Act (Prop 12).

Prop 1A- Safe, Reliable High-Speed Passenger Train Bond Act for the 21st Century.

  • Democrats – Support
  • Republicans – Oppose

Prop 2- Treatment of Farm Animals.

  • Democrats – Support
  • Republicans – Oppose

Prop 3- Children’s Hospital Bond Act. Grant Program.

  • Democrats – Support
  • Republicans – Oppose

Prop 4- Waiting Period and Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor’s Pregnancy.

  • Democrats – Oppose
  • Republicans – Support

Prop 5- Nonviolent Offenders. Sentencing, Parole and Rehabilitation.

  • Democrats – Support
  • Republicans – Oppose

Prop 6- Criminal Penalties and Laws. Public Safety Funding.

  • Democrats – Oppose
  • Republicans – Support

Prop 7- Renewable Energy.

  • Democrats – Oppose
  • Republicans – Oppose

Prop 8- Limit on Marriage.

  • Democrats – Oppose
  • Republicans – Support

Prop 9- Criminal Justice System. Victims’ Rights. Parole.

  • Democrats – Oppose
  • Republicans – Support

Prop 10- Bonds.  Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Renewable Energy.

  • Democrats – No Position
  • Republicans – Oppose

Prop 11- Redistricting.

  • Democrats – Oppose
  • Republicans – No Position

Prop 12- Veterans’ Bond Act of 2008.

  • Democrats – Support
  • Republicans – Support

    Thank goodness there are more educated conservatives out there!! “Educate Yourself” is just a typical liberal that believes anything thrown out by the national media and probably knows NOTHING about politics or the agendas behind any of the current legistation! I agree with the concerns of “Sylvia” and “Concenred Citizen” and would love to find a website or post that discusses the positions of our party on the propostions further!!
